Watch Information
Communication is the Key!
Welcome to the revitalized Five Canyons Neighborhood Watch newsletter! If you
are reading this, you care about this wonderful place that we love to call home.
We have chosen to live in one of the most beautiful parts of the San Francisco
Bay area and naturally we all want to preserve the safety and security of our families,
homes and investments.
Our Neighborhood Watch organization cannot, in and of itself, "make you safe". It
requires a heightened awareness from all of us to make our area both a community
that is wonderful to enjoy, and also the wrong place to commit crime. We want to send
a strong message that if you chose to do something wrong in Five Canyons, you will
be observed, recorded and ultimately apprehended by the police. All over this country,
Neighborhood Watch organizations have found that communication is the key element in
deterring criminal activity.
In the next few weeks we will be
asking you for some basic information that will help us identify activities that are
"out of the ordinary". In these days of identity theft, right to privacy issues, and
concerns about personal rights, we recognize that some of you might feel reluctant
to share such information. The information gathered will not be used for any purpose
other than the Neighborhood Watch. Your cooperation is entirely voluntary. Even
letting us know just your phone number and email address means that we have a way to
contact you in case of an emergency.
Please take a little time to get to know your Neighborhood Watch volunteers. Everyone
involved is donating their time, effort, energy and resources to help make Five Canyons
a better place for all of us.
Sgt. Ken Gemmell has been promoted to the head of the COPP shop. He will be in charge of
Community policing for us. Ken has been extremely active helping our community. His e-mail
address is kgemmell@acgov.org .
